About Us

We were fortunate to have friends introduce us to mysterious Beijing in the fall of 2003. They had been to the city in the past and had been intrigued with its culture and thought that we would be as well. How right they were! The Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, The Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven... the history and culture of this city, in fact the whole country, are truly awe inspiring! The Chinese people we met were truly welcoming, gracious and humble. The food... REAL Chinese food... was a delight!

In our all too short visit we were able to take in a lot of the must see sights, including the unbelievable selection of PEARLS!!! Every size, shape and color you can imagine! Almost any design you can imagine! All at prices you can't imagine!

One obvious question came to mind... why is pearl jewellery so expensive "back home" when it is so reasonable here?? The answer, quite simply, is profit margins. The importer, the wholesaler, and the retailer all need their share of profits to stay in business. Next question was... why can't we import this jewellery and sell direct to consumers at much lower prices? The answer to this question was....... WHY NOT??? The Orient Expressed Imports was born!

From its inception our goal has been to provide quality jewellery at affordable prices. Our products are all hand made in Beijing with emphasis on the best value possible. We try to provide an ever changing variety of classic, fun and funky designs. The response by our customers has been overwhelming and our product selection continues to grow.

Since our first visit in 2003 we have had the privilege of returning to Beijing and other parts of China on a number of occasions. We have included some photos of our trips in our Gallery section. We hope you find them as interesting to view as we did while taking them.
